Marijuana is still on the Drug Enforcement Administration’s list of scheduled drugs. Right at the very top, in fact; Schedule 1.

With so many states legalizing weed for medicinal and recreational purposes in the past few years, you might think that federal law would start to catch up. Yet cannabis hasn’t budged from Schedule I, the DEA’s most serious category of illegal substances. That puts it alongside heroin, ecstasy and LSD as a drug “with no currently accepted medical use.”

Quite strange then, that the US Department of Health and Human Services were granted U.S. Patent No. 6,630,507 in 2003, covering the potential use of non-psychoactive cannabinoids (CBD) to protect the brain from damage or degeneration caused by certain diseases, such as cirrhosis.

Basically, while telling us that cannabis has “no currently accepted medical use”, the US government were granted a patent for the medical use of cannabis.

What’s even stranger, is that unlike THC (the ingredient in cannabis which gives you a ‘high’), CBD is non-psychoactive. You cannot get high from CBD oil. In fact, CBD oil has NO KNOWN SIDE-EFFECTS. The government have put CBD on the schedule 1 list, even though it is no more harmful than a cup of coffee.

With something so hypocritical one must ask, why this is the case? Why does the government tell us that cannabis has no medical benefits, whilst at the same time taking out patents on cannabis’s benefits?

The answer is simple: MONEY!

To prove this, here’s a quick list of a few of the most popular ailments that cannabinoids (CBD) have been proven to help, along with the estimated number of Americans who are thought to suffer with them.

Anxiety – 3.3 Million Americans

One of the most common CBD oil effects is it makes you feel calm. This calmness has a hugely positive effect on anxiety, especially those who suffer from panic attacks. CBD oil makes a patient feel subdued and relaxed, and therefore far less prone to anxiety attacks.

Depression – 16 Million Americans

In a similar way to anxiety, CBD oil benefits those with depression by giving them a calm, uplifting feeling. And also, again unlike anti-depressants, CBD oil has very few side-effects.

Schizophrenia – 3.2 Million Americans

CBD used as a supplemental treatment to traditional medication for schizophrenia in early trials have been successful. It is thought that the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD also have a hand in it’s benefit as an anti-psychotic, as psychotic disorders are thought to be in part caused by brain inflammation.

Stress – Over 100 Million Americans

Cannabinoid receptors can be found in areas of the brain known to control emotional behavior. These are the areas in the prefrontal cortex that control mood, fear, cravings, sleep patterns and stress levels.

Several trials on mice and other animals have shown that the activation of cannabinoid receptors in the brain not only reduces stress levels, but also heart rate and blood pressure levels. This is thought to therefore reduce the chance of panic attacks and bouts of anxiety as a result.

Epilepsy – 3 Million Americans

There have been multiple papers published that hint the endocannabinoid system (ECS) could play a major role in the future treatment of epilepsy.

Low gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) concentrations are seen in a variety of epileptic syndromes. Low GABA levels equate to a higher chance of epileptic seizure. CBD though, minimizes the chance of seizures by increasing the amount of GABA in the brain.

Take a look at this video, to see how CBD oil can have wonderful effects on epilepsy:

Why is ‘Money’ the Reason for CBD Being Schedule 1?

The 5 illnesses listed above, in total, cover approximately 125 Million US Adults. That is almost 50% of the adult population in America.

Can you imagine how many pharmaceutical drugs those people are taking? Can you imagine how much money the pharmaceutical giants would lose if those people started taking CBD for their illness, rather than big pharma’s pills?

Just to give you some idea, the anti-depressant industry in America alone, is somewhere in the region of 44-55 Billion dollars a year!

Now, is it any wonder why the pharmaceutical industry is the number one lobbying industry to the US government? In the last election cycle, big pharma gave the 2 major political parties in the US almost $1 Billion!

The Good News? CBD Oil is LEGAL in ALL 50 States!

Yup, that is 100% true. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is not found in CBD oil. Because of this, it is legal to buy cannabis oil in all 50 states of America.

However, it still can be hard to find in a local store. This is why the best place to find cannabis oil for sale is online, through websites like this one. There is therefore no need to relocate to a state where it is legal to purchase medical marijuana, or go through the hassle (and embarrassment) of acquiring a medical marijuana card.

It’s not just depression, epilepsy or anxiety that CBD oil can help with though:

CBD Oil as Pain Relief

If you’ve ever smoked cannabis, you’ll know how good it can be for pain relief. Millions of people all over the world already take cannabis for pain, in many cases illegally. Medicinal cannabis is already widely used across America for chronic pain, spasticity, nausea and vomiting after chemotherapy.

CBD Oil for Arthritis

CBD oil benefits the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is the part of the body which controls pain and inflammation, in a huge way. The ECS is controlled by chemicals in the body called endocannabinoids, which keep biological functions such as sleep, pain, appetite and the immune system in balance.

When the human body is out of balance in these areas, our endocannabinoids get to work to bring the body back into balance. CBD oil benefits the ECS because the active components mimic these endocannabinoids, therefore helping with areas such as inflammation.

Summary

As you can see from the above, the weight of evidence that CBD oil benefits a number of common illnesses and diseases is growing. Ever since cannabis was legalized for medical use in California in 1996 there have been multiple and wide-ranging possible uses for CBD.

If you are outraged by the fact that cannabis is still schedule 1, make your voice heard. Call your congressman or senator, and demand that he/she push for cannabis to be legalized. Call them often, too.

Before you go:

Polling has huge sway in how politicians think, and being active in it also brings other rewards. The more active you are in polling, the more rewarded you are. Harris Online offer many differing rewards based upon how many “points” you accumulate, usually in the form of gift cards.

In essence, you get rewarded for your time filling out a few questions, and also make your voice heard at the same time, shaping the future.

It really does make a huge difference. So if you are in the US and Canada and have a couple of minutes spare, click this link, then simply fill out the information in the box, and confirm your email address. You’ll be ready to go after that.
